As the new season looms in the background of this weekend, we rejoice in the start of a new year of football by coming together to watch the winners of the Premier League (Chelsea) and the winners of the FA Cup (Arsenal) do battle in the form of the Community Shield.
Mostly regarded as a "meh" competition, the Community Shield does little to judge what the next 9 months have in store. Which is fine. I'm an Arsenal fan. We (try to) keep our expectations firmly in check.
So, I'm not going to gloat that we beat Chelsea in the Community Shield 1-0 yesterday because the real test starts this Sunday.
